Additional options if you are
laid off
If you do not start to work for the new employer in conjunction
with the divestment and you receive a surplus notice from your
OPTrust employer, you may be eligible to receive a pension under
additional provisions of the OPSEU Pension Plan. These include:
Bridging – you may also
be able to “bridge” to an unreduced pension. Bridging
requires special provisions in your collective agreement allowing
the use of leaves of absence, your surplus notice period and the
period represented by severance payments to reach the date on which
you become eligible for one of the Plan’s unreduced early
retirement options.
