The OPSEU Pension Trust limits the release of member and pensioner information
as prescribed under the privacy rules contained in federal and provincial
legislation (both current and proposed). An employer does not have the
right to access a member’s pension information, regardless of the employer’s
status as a contributor to the Plan.
OPTrust will not release plan member data to the employer unless the
member consents to its release by completing an OPTRUST 3004 form (Authorization
for the Release of Personal Information). This includes but is not limited to:
- Address information
- Beneficiary or spousal information
- The amount of members’ earned or projected pension
- The amount of a retirees’ pension payments
For more information on members’ and pensioners’ privacy rights, see our
statement on Privacy at OPTrust.
