Employers must complete the following procedures when performing a task in
the online Secure Employer Site.
How to send a secure message
- Click on the Contact OPTrust link.
- Select the link from the different contact options:
- Recent Contacts
- Main Contact
- OPTrust Department Primary Contacts
- OPTrust Alphabetical Contact List
- Input required fields (Subject and Message).
- Once complete, click on the [Send] button.
How to view a message
To view the details of a message, click on a message under the “Subject”
heading.
- Next link – takes the user to the next message.
- Previous link – takes the user to the previous message.
- View Messages link – takes the user to all messages.
How to search for a message
- Click on the Secured Messages link.
- Click on the Search Messages link.
- Enter the search criteria. The user can search by a single criterion or a
combination of the following:

Reference number
-
SIN
-
Date (To and From)
- To and From dates return messages inclusive of the date range.
- The To date only returns messages on or after that date.
- The From date only returns messages on or after that date.
- Keyword.
- Click on the Upload a Payroll File link.
- Click on the [Browse] button to locate the file to be attached.
- Highlight the file to attach and select [Open].
- Select an organization from the drop down list. This is only applicable if the
user is associated with more than one employer.
- Add a message in the notes text box (if required).
- Click on the [Upload] button.

Note: An e-mail notification will be sent to OPTrust when a payroll file
is successfully uploaded.

To download and save a buyback deduction file sent by OPTrust:
- Click on the file name.
- Click [Open] to view the file or [Save] to save the file.
