November 13 – 15, 2016 | The OMNI King Edward Hotel | Toronto

The OPTrust Global Pension Leadership Summit will provide a forum for collective discussion and the sharing of ideas by pension plan investors and public policymakers.

A key focus of the summit will be discussions on the low-return environment and macro-economic headwinds facing all pension funds and investors led by a prominent keynote speaker with a global perspective. This will provide the backdrop for a discussion by leading CIOs from Canada and abroad about how they intend to steer their assets under management through this challenging period if, in fact, they agree with the consensus forecasts.

After discussing how leading practitioners intend to position their portfolios, we will explore challenges and opportunities of interest to investors and public policymakers, including the impact of technological innovation, the barriers to supporting innovation and stronger economic performance, and the backlog of infrastructure spending in developed markets and anticipated new infrastructure needs in emerging markets.

Climate change risks and opportunities from a global and an energy sector perspective will also be a focus of the summit. Energy regulation, forecast demand and pricing uncertainty are of obvious concern to the Canadian and other commodity-linked economies, with the drivers of climate change policy increasingly global in nature. Our goal is to gain a greater insight into the regulatory, technological and geophysical volatility driven by climate change and to seek ways to better collaborate with our peers and policymakers.

We are seeking to include new voices from the rapidly transforming global economy. Rather than focus specifically on emerging markets, we plan to integrate these perspectives throughout our sessions to provide a more balanced view of the challenges and opportunities we face.

Look for further details on summit themes, keynote speakers and accomplished panellists from Canada and around the world.

We look forward to welcoming you to Toronto.
